Batman vs Osama Bin Laden
Holy Jihad, Batman! It seems that Osama Bin Laden has finally met his match - the Dark Knight himself!
According to the New York post, Bruce Wayne's alter ego will battle al-Qaeda in a forthcoming graphic novel called Holy Terror, Batman!
"It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a piece of propaganda," Batman writer Frank Miller told a panel discussion at a San Francisco comic-book convention.
"Batman kicks al-Qaeda’s ass."
Miller said the comic was "an explosion from my gut reaction of what’s happening now" and "a reminder to people who seem to have forgotten who we’re up against".
The story apparently sees Batman defending his hometown of Gotham City against a terrorist attack.
"It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you’ve got al-Qaeda out there," Miller said in comments posted on entertainment site ign.com.
He added that it would not be the first time a comic-book icon had taken on a real-life villain.
"Superman punched out Hitler. So did Captain America. That’s one of the things they’re there for," Miller said.
I like this idea. The Caped Crusader against the Caved Jihad Crusader. Osama Bin Laden has been using the media to taunt the US so why not have one of the greatest cartoon characters in the US taunt him and whoop his ass to boot?
"Here's a taste of your own medicine, jerk!"
What I want to know is, will Osama or one of his Al-Qaeda lieutenants respond to this? Maybe Osama is disappointed that he has to fight Batman whereas Hitler got Superman? Hey it could have been worse. He could have ended up facing Aquaman, the chap who talks to the fishes.
The comic is set to be completed some time next year. Go get 'em Batman!
