Jail Colombia Three here - Kenny
I see Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has called on the Government to make moves to have the Colombia Three jailed in Ireland.The absence of an extradition agreement between Ireland and Colombia means they are unlikely to be returned, but Mr Kenny said the Government should try to have them serve their sentences in Ireland under a European convention.
I personally have no problem in the men being jailed over here. I don't accept that they are 100 per cent innocent. However, I also don't accept that they should be regarded as guilty of training guerillas based on the very dodgy handling of the case by the Colombian authorities.
Let the Irish authorities look into the matter. The Colombian authorities meanwhile should concentrate on sorting out their farcical, joke of a legal system.
