Hero/Villain of the Day-11.01.05

Hero: Nick Waters:I was touched when I heard about this 14 year-old boy,who cannot talk and who has no arms, and was asked by his church what he wanted for Chrismas,to which he replied by typing with his feet:Lots of Christmas cards.Ten thousand of them.

More than two weeks after Christmas,he has over 130,000 cards which line the halls of his home in Canton,Georgia.
The teenager has Holt-Oram syndrome,a rare, inherited disorder that causes heart abnormalities and birth defects of the hands and arms. This Christmas was his first Christmas out of hospital in several years.

He has received cards from all across America as well as Ethiopia,Israel,Hong Kong, the Netherlands,Ireland,Australia and Canada.

In a world that seems to become more and more corrupt and degrading by the day,how refreshing to see this teenager who has suffered so much, discover what's truly important in life.
Christmas isn't meant to be commercial,it's meant to embody stories like this one.
We could all learn a thing or two from this boy's example.
I think we'll all agree that this young man is certainly a hero.

Villain: Viktor Yanukovych:As expected,Mr.Yanukovych is refusing to admit defeat in the Ukrainian presidential election to his rival Viktor Yushchenko.
He is planning further court appeals.

I find this to be very disappointing.Mr.Yanukovych's thirst for power is so great that it is overriding his duty to his country.Sad.
