UI's Celtic Mythology - Ith
Ith was said to have dwelt in a great tower in Spain, from which he was able to see Ireland and so decided to go there. He landed with ninety followers just after the Tuatha De Danann had defeated the Fomorii at the second battle of Magh Tuireadh. The Tuatha De Danann suspected Ith of harbouring invasion plans and so killed him. When his body was returned to Spain, his sons swore to conquer the island. The leader of this invasion of Ireland, the last to be recorded in Irish mythology, was Ith's uncle Mil, or Milesius.
Hmm. Why is it that, even in mythology, invasions play a key part in Irish matters?
