Qualifier Countdown - 4 days away

Well Saturday saw France in action in an important day for Group 4.

Switzerland could only draw at home against Israel which is pretty good news for Ireland as Switzerland missed out on the chance to forge a lead at the top.

In the other game, France, as expected, defeated the Faroe Islands but the final score was 3-0 meaning they do not leapfrog over ourselves but instead remain in third place.

The group remains very tight. Switzerland, Ireland and France are all on 13 points, with Israel in fourth place on 12 points.

Ireland's match on Wednesday against France remains a massive tie.

With regards to the Irish camp, Kevin Kilbane missed training with Brian Kerr’s squad in Malahide with a virus. Andy O'Brien, Matt Holland and Damien Duff all trained lightly due to injuries, with Duff doing some gym work. Kenny Cunningham took full part in training and Kerr is confident that all will be fit to play in Ireland’s crunch Group 6 qualifier against France in Lansdowne Road on Wednesday.

Let's hope so. The match is almost upon us.

Come on Ireland!
