Now who's gonna make the tea?
The Human Rights Commission has added its voice to calls for the Irish Constitution to be made more gender-balanced.
The call comes as the Irish Government prepares to appear before a UN committee on the elimination of discrimination against women in New York today.
In a statement issued to coincide with the appearance, the Human Rights Commission said the language of the current Constitution was too male-oriented and failed to address equality between the sexes.
It also said the document had an "unacceptable" view of women as housewives and mothers and this was contributing to Ireland's lack of progress in eliminating gender discrimination.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their main beef is Article 92.7:
"And the mother shall be obliged to make the dinner and shut the kids up."
In all seriousness though, I think this is yet another example of political correctness gone mad. I can't say I'm surprised it's being held in America. No offence to any of my American visitors, but it seems to me that America is leading the world when it comes to emasculating its citizens. Where are the real American men nowadays that were role models to men all over the world? Men like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood? They seem to be a dying breed.
Fight the emasculation!
