Heatwave set to ease
The Irish heatwave was in full swing this afternoon – signified by soaring temperatures, limbs exposed on city streets and a sharp increase in ice creams sales.
The highest temperature was recorded in Kilkenny today, where it reached nearly 30 degrees.
It will be slightly cooler in most places tomorrow, but there will still be some good sunshine.
According to Met Eireann, temperatures will be reaching the mid-twenties again over at least the southern half of the country.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It has been very warm alright. RTE meanwhile have refused to confirm or deny reports that beetroot-faced Marty Whelan became so hot, his head expanded to twice its size.
More as we get it...
