Thursday Thoughts: Englishness attacked

I came across this story on An Cat Dubh and after doing some digging I've found it's completely true.

Get this, prison officers at Wakefield Prison have been warned not to wear tie-pins with the English flag over fears it may be "misinterpreted" as racist.

Chief Inspector of Prisons Anne Owers ticked off officers for sporting the St George's Cross pins in a report on the prison.

A section on race relations in Ms Owers' report said: "We were concerned to see a number of staff wearing a flag of St George tie-pin.

"While we were told that these had been bought in support of a cancer charity there was clear scope for misinterpretation, and Prison Service Orders made clear that unauthorised badges and pins should not be worn."

Wow. I knew the state of Englishness was in a bad way but I didn't think things were this bad. It's 'racist' to wear a pin with the English flag?

What the hell is going on in England these days? They're being force-fed all this Britishness at the expense of their Englishness.

I feel sorry for the patriotic people of England. Their country has been castrated by Britishness and they run the risk of being branded racist and intolerant by expressing the pride they have in their country.

What a disgrace. Makes me really glad I'm not British!
