UI's Celtic Mythology - Uther Pendragon

Uther Pendragon (whose name means "dragon head") was Arthur's father. According to late-British mythology, Uther was able to sleep with Igraine because he was disguised as her husband, Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall, and the result of their union was Arthur. The wizard Merlin helped in this deception and later Uther killed Gorlois and married Igraine, while Arthur was taken by Merlin.

*Note - This is the final Celtic tale I will be posting. All of these myths have come from the book Celtic Mythology by Arthur Cotterell which I highly recommend. I hope you have enjoyed the stories and you can read more of them in my archives.*
