Wake me up when September ends

I see September's here. September tends to have a rather depressing feel to it, doesn't it? June, July and August tend to conjure up images of laughter, sunshine and warmth. Lazy days and humid evenings...

September meanwhile tends to conjure up far more depressing images. Kids going back to school and parents going back to work. Autumn kicking in with leaves everywhere and the return of windy, blustery days. Hoping for a few sunny days before we have to deal with October.

That's September for you. However, this year I'm going to try and be a bit more optimistic (not easy I know, I'm Irish after all) but September also in a way indicates the chance for a new beginning and a fresh start. It will also be the month in which Ireland play France at Lansdowne Road and if we can win that encounter, we'll all be delighted!

Please God September, 2005, will be a good month.
